What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. It allows the site to remember information about your visit (such as your preferred language or that you are logged in) so the next page loads faster and feels more personal. Some cookies last only for the current session and disappear when you close the browser, others persist for longer to remember settings across visits.
Cookies cannot run programs or carry viruses to your device. They contain only text and they only return information to the site that set them, not to other sites. They can however be used to track browsing behaviour across multiple sites when set by third-party advertising networks, which is why modern browsers and laws like UK GDPR give you full control over which cookies you accept.
Which categories of cookie do we use?
Strictly necessary cookies are required to operate the site. They include the authentication cookie that keeps you logged in, the cookie that remembers your wager and deposit limits, and the cookie that prevents repeated form submissions. These cannot be turned off because without them the site does not function.
Functional cookies remember your preferences such as language, currency, lobby filters and your acceptance of this cookie banner. They make the experience more pleasant but the site works without them. You can disable them in your browser or in our cookie settings panel.
Analytics cookies measure how the site is used in aggregate. They tell us which pages are most popular, where visitors come from and where they encounter problems. We use this information to improve the design and content. We do not use analytics cookies to identify individual users or sell information to third parties.
Marketing cookies enable us to show you offers that match your interests, and to measure the effectiveness of advertising on platforms like Google and Meta. These are opt-in. If you decline marketing cookies, you still see ads from us on those platforms but they will not be personalised.
How do you change your cookie choices?
On your first visit you see a banner that lets you accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies or open a detailed preferences panel to choose category by category. The choice is remembered for 12 months. You can change it any time by clicking the small cookie icon in the footer of every page.
Browser settings give you additional control. Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all let you block cookies entirely, block third-party cookies only or delete existing cookies at any time. Blocking essential cookies will prevent the site from working correctly, blocking only third-party cookies is generally safe.
Do we use third-party cookies?
We use a small number of third-party cookies from carefully selected partners: Google Analytics for site measurement, Cloudflare for security and performance, and Stripe and our crypto processor for payment fraud detection. We do not use ad-network cookies on our own pages.
When you launch a game inside an iframe from a provider like Pragmatic Play or Evolution, that provider may set its own cookies inside the iframe to operate the game. These are subject to the provider's own privacy notice, available within the game window.
Cookie list
A current cookie list with names, purposes and durations is available inside the cookie preferences panel in the footer. It updates automatically whenever we add or remove a cookie. If you spot a cookie that is not listed, please email privacy@wagertales.vip so we can investigate.
Changes to this policy
We update this cookie policy whenever we add or change a cookie or whenever the law changes. The date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes trigger a fresh banner so you can review and update your consent if you wish.
How long does each cookie stay on your device?
Session cookies live only for the duration of your visit and disappear automatically when you close the browser tab. Examples include the cookie that keeps you logged in across the few pages you visit in a single session and the cookie that remembers a partial deposit form in case you accidentally navigate away.
Persistent cookies last between 30 days and 12 months depending on purpose. Authentication remember-me cookies last 30 days. Cookie consent records last 12 months, which is the maximum recommended duration under UK GDPR guidance. Analytics cookies typically last 14 months to allow year-on-year reporting. You can delete any cookie at any time through the cookie panel in the footer or directly in your browser settings.
What happens if you reject all non-essential cookies?
The site continues to work for the activities that matter most. You can browse the lobby, register an account, deposit, play, withdraw and contact support without any non-essential cookie set. The differences are mostly invisible: ads we run on Google and Meta show up without personalisation, our internal reporting cannot tell which marketing channel brought you to the site, and certain optional features like saved game filters reset between visits.
None of these consequences degrade the core gambling experience. Rejecting analytics and marketing cookies is a perfectly reasonable choice and we do not penalise it in any way. The site does not lock content, hide promotions or change odds based on cookie preferences.
Local storage, pixel tags and the wider tracking picture
Some browser features behave like cookies without technically being one. Local storage saves small amounts of data on your device for the same purposes as functional cookies. Pixel tags are tiny invisible images used to confirm that an email or web page loaded. Both fall under the same consent rules as cookies in this policy and are listed in the cookie panel alongside traditional cookies.
You can clear local storage at any time through your browser's privacy settings. Disabling images in your email client prevents pixel tags from firing. Neither setting prevents you from using the WagerTales site, only from being measured anonymously in our analytics dashboards.
